Description

Cast iron gutters and pipes enhance the appearance of both traditional and contemporary projects whilst providing significant benefits over other rainwater systems. Cast iron guttering, pipes and hopper heads offer unrivalled strength, durability, low operational noise levels, environmental benefits and a lifespan that makes the installation of these products a once in a generation event.

Metal & Glass cast iron rainwater and soil systems are the logical choice for listed properties and conservations areas as the aesthetic appeal of cast iron satisfies all the requirements of heritage architecture.

Our plain half round cast iron gutter profile is available in 4 widths:

4″ – has a 0.55 litre capacity
4.5″ – has a 0.79 litre capacity
5″ – has a 1.09 litre capacity
6″ – has a 1.83 litre capacity

Our standard range of cast iron gutter profiles includes Plain Half Round, Beaded Half Round, Ogee, Notts Ogee, G46 Moulded, H16 Moulded and Plain Deep Half Round. In addition to these cast iron guttering profiles, our range can be complemented with compatible products from the extensive sand cast rainwater range or alternatively unique bespoke products can be supplied to your design.

Supported by an extensive range of fittings and brackets, the Plain Half Round profile of cast iron guttering offers everything you might need for your project whether traditional or contemporary.

This is a genuine cast iron rainwater system supplied by a well-established UK foundry.  Offering significantly more benefits than plastic cast iron effect, traditional cast iron products are proven to be versatile, durable, reliable and these sustainable products continue to meet the changing demands of modern industry.

Our Premier Rainwater is a range of traditional cast iron pipes, gutters and fittings available “off the shelf”.  Included is the common half round profile; these are cast iron rainwater products which have been used over centuries and continue to outperform many modern alternatives.  Properly fitted and maintained our Premier products should be expected to last over 100 years, enhance a building’s exterior appearance and add value.  Premier Rainwater Ex Stock is available as Premier Grey Primed or Premier Extra (PX) Black gloss.  Other colours in the RAL or BS ranges are available ex stock but lead times will vary.  We also offer Premier Coastal which is essential to help cast iron gutters and pipes meet the rigours of a marine environment.

We can also offer made to order cast iron rainwater products.  They are available within our range but need to be cast or fabricated with timescales agreed in advance.  They can be ordered in exactly the same way as ex stock products.  They are available in all the same paint options as Premier Ex Stock.

Through our foundry partners at Hargreaves we can also offer bespoke cast iron gutter, pipe and hopper options.  Hargreaves is a working UK foundry with skilled pattern makers and moulders, specialist fabricators and painters and over a century of iron casting experience at their location in Halifax, Yorkshire.  Using our combined experience makes Metal & Glass Limited a leading supplier of cast iron rainwater and drainage products and we are able to provide advice and guidance to help you better understand your cast iron requirements.

To ensure everything fits together neatly, our cast iron rainwater system uses internal and external pieces to couple the gutters to the fittings.  Deciding whether something is internal or external can be confusing so we have put together the graphics below to help you.

On symmetrical cast iron gutters such as the common half round you simply turn the gutter angle around to suit internal or external corners on the roof.  With the cast iron ogee gutters where the profile is asymmetrical, you need to order the correct type of angle – internal or external.

With ogee stop ends, because of the profile of the gutter they are handed – either right hand or left hand.  Stop ends are always handed when looking from the front.  Stand in front of the gutter and you will require an external stop end to cap off the end to the right, and an internal stop end to cap off the left hand end.  This also applies to the drop end outlets.
